September's inflation data says India's retail print has further to climb. The National Statistics Office (NSO) put consumer price inflation at 5.54% year-on-year, against a Reuters poll of 5.40% and a revised 4.83% previously. That is the highest reading since 6.21% in October 2024. Wholesale prices ran hotter: the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) rose 11.39% (forecast 10.18%, previously 9.92%).

India's September wholesale inflation hit 11.39%, about double the 5.54% consumer price print, which points to more pass-through after the central bank's hike. In Brazil, economists raised inflation forecasts but cut policy-rate calls ahead of the election runoff.
