Euro area inflation jumped to 3.3% in August on an energy spike, but core inflation eased to 2.4%. The ECB meets September 10 with markets pricing a hike to 2.50% anyway, on a number it barely controls.

Eurostat’s August flash estimate lifted euro-area HICP to a nearly three-year high as energy inflation jumped to 14.3%, even as core eased below consensus to 2.4%. Source
